Epsom Winner Primed For Cox
Cox Plate betting has been considerably open this year with punters unable to define a clear favourite, and after Saturday's Epsom Handicap at Randwick we have another horse to throw into the mix of chances. Four year old mare Secret Admirer has shot into Cox contention after a dashing win in the Group 1 Epsom ahead of in-form Melbourne mare Pinker Pinker and Red Tracer.
"She is pretty untapped, we treat her very delicately and haven't got to the bottom of her yet", trainer Grahame Begg said after the race. "You have to remember it was only her eight start in a race and she has won two Group 1's".
Secret Admirer is now an $18 chance for the main Moonee Valley race, while Epsom favourite Sincero, who finished 8th, has now drifted to $25. New Zealand star Jimmy Choux remains at the top of the Cox betting at $6, with three year olds Helmet and Smart Missile getting lots of support. Lion Tamer, Rekindled Interest, My Kingdom Of Fife and past Cox winner Whobegotyou are all prominent.
Jimmy Choux made it two group 1's in a row on the weekend, taking out the Spring Classic in New Zealand by 2 lengths, and certainly deserves favouritism. In his only 2000m Australia run, Jimmy took out the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas in March this year.
It's certainly shaping up to be an exciting Cox Plate for 2011.
