Moody's New King Wins Memsie

Trainer Peter Moody has added a new gun to his already impressive stable with former New Zealand mare Kings Rose taking out the Group 2 Memsie Stakes on Saturday at Caulfield. First up since its run in the New Zealand Oaks back in March and having her first start for Moody, King's Rose sat midfield and latched onto the back of favourite Heart of Dreams, nudging him out on the line.

"She is a work in progress for us, we are still working her out but we are very happy with her at this stage". Moody said after the race of his new 4 year old out of Redoute's Choice.

"We are pretty happy with where we are headed with this mare".

It seems the next stop for Kings Rose will be the Dato Tan Chin Nam over 1600m at Moonee Valley in a fortnight.

Greg Eurell-trained gelding Red Colossus ran out of his skin to finish only one length behind in third place. He is also likely to head to the Dato Tan, with his main goal the Cox Plate in October.

Linton was another horse to make up good ground and will follow a similar preparation with the word on the track that he is going to have a huge spring.

Up in Sydney, Smart Missile showed he is another in for a massive campaign with an ultra impressive victory in the Group 3 Run to the Rose at Rosehill. Jockey Glen Boss was amazed out how he extended in the final furlong to run down quality galloper Foxwedge who was doing anything but slowing down.

Helmet finished in third place with a major gap behind the rest of the field.
